Pto pully alignment

Just as I was informed my drive pully is pushed against the larger diameter of the crankshaft. The keyway protrudes and prevents the needle baring race from resting against the drive pully.post-12156-139830357516_thumb.jpg

Can't you turn it around or move it out some or is that the right key way

Its the right keyway. I guess it boils down to if the set screws won't hold the pully in place should I install a spacer between the pully and crankshaft or trim the keyway to allow the bearing race to rest against the pully.

I suspect you have the wrong key on the drive pulley. Should be no longer than 3/4"-1".

That may be the key for it the flywheel you have in there now.

Space the drive pulley out from the engine about 3/32", tighten down and no key should be protruding from the boss.

No spacers are required...anywhere.

If the clutch pressure will eventually push the drive pully against the crankshaft shouldn't you just tighten it against the crank?

With a good set screw properly tightened, that pulley shouldn't go anywhere.

I assume this is on your C-141. I restored the same model tractor five years ago and have never had a problem with the pulley moving laterally.

My C-141 was restored as a worker and has not been out of service since.

It ROCKS!

Check this first, see if a set screw is directly over key groove.  Case 1: It's poss that set screw disallows key from moving toward engine. If the key won't move back by solving case 1: there may have been a deformity in keyway. Case 2: wrong key length, ?have you been using it and this just occurred or was this a recent PO project you stumbled onto? Case 3: Engine pulley in too far (appears to be case 3, but could be combination of all cases).

I have never had it off before I recently took it off so I could paint it. That is when I noticed the problem.

Having no idea, on which tractor, I think I see K-321 on block. On 72 standard models it says mount pulley 1/4" away (? from block) on auto 1" fr away ?(from block) course this is for 8hp engine, cut page follows: 

 

ENGINE PULLEYS

For all 8 H.P. tractors with standard geared trans·

missions and model 1046 use the 2 1/2" dia. pulley,

Port No. 7363. For all 8 H.P. tractors with the WheelA-

Matic transmission (Hydro-Static) and model 1075

use the 3 1/2" dia. pulley, Part No. 7362. Space pulley

No. 7362 1" away from engine face. Space pulley No.

7363 1/4" away.
