stevasaurus 23,307 #1 Posted April 11, 2014 It is a 2014 Silverado...2 wheel drive...8' bed...regular cab...v-6 (4.?)...Tungsten Metallic... Getting the cap put on before Mentone. This truck was on the lot and was pretty much what I would have ordered. It came with power windows and mirrors...I would not have ordered that. It was half the cost of Brrly's Land Yaht...

AMC RULES 37,211 #3 Posted April 11, 2014 Very nice Steve... I heard tell...2014 will be the last year GM will offer an 8' bed with the regular cab.
Martin 2,133 #4 Posted April 11, 2014 I'm going out to wash mine in a moment, do you want me to do yours at the same time?
stevasaurus 23,307 #5 Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) Are you serious Craig? I had not heard that. I can't believe they would stop making "Fleet Trucks". BTW...this thing has the 6 speed trans and is supposed to get 20+ mpg...34 gal tank= 680 miles...1 tank of gas to the Penn show. :happy-jumpeveryone: Martin...it is supposed to rain Saturday...that is why it is not washed. It rained just enough Wednesday to get it dirty. This color does show the dirt. Edited April 11, 2014 by stevasaurus
Martin 2,133 #6 Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) the tank size is another one of those advantages with the long bed. its one thing i miss as the last 2 trucks I've had have been short or mid size beds. i can't get a crew cab long bed in my garage though. ( even though i can't get it in there at all now for some other reason or reasons, 12 others i think.....) the 26 gal tank in mine gets me 520 miles now we are out of winter..... the six speed is awesome for towing Steve, you are going to notice the difference over the old one...... Martin 2,133 #7 Posted April 11, 2014 Martin...it is supposed to rain Saturday...that is why it is not washed. It rained just enough Wednesday to get it dirty. This color does show the dirt. i thought i would be ok with the heritage blue i picked, but its just as bad as any black vehicle I've ever had. i think the dark colors are basically all the same pain in the a** to keep clean. they look great for about a day and then the dust and dirt settles like a magnet. then you get some small amount of rain and it looks like you never washed it at all...... one thing i really hate is the bird bombs...... leave them and they will stain the new paint badly. even with a good wax and sealer on there they leave marks if left too long.......
squonk 43,965 #8 Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) Regular cab 8's just don't sell well. I wouldn't get one. I need The extra leg room. Plus try to find one without the Power options. Love the look of the 14's. Only thing better is the GMC IMHO. My next truck Will probably be a 10 yr. old Tundra, Edited April 11, 2014 by squonk

squonk 43,965 #21 Posted April 12, 2014 You will enjoy those power mirrors when you get into the truck when your all tired out from the 6 hrs. in the gym. And you find out some hosebag has moved that right mirror so all you can see in it is your mug! ( And I don't mean your R in R mug either!)

Ken B 3,189 #23 Posted April 12, 2014 Looking under the hood makes me remember why I don't work on cars anymore! I worked at a Chevy dealer for ten yrs thru the 90's. Things were pretty clean and simple under the hood thru those yrs. Now, under the hood of some of the GM vehilcles in the 80's were a mess. I hated working on them, Vacuum hoses everywhere (usually leaking) and just an overall mess to work on with carb's etc. Steve's truck is a Chevy so Steve won't ever have to work on it other than oil changes.... I think overall it would be a breeze to work on if it should ever need attention. I have always been a fan of regular cab short and long beds. An extra cab for me only means more room for crapola. Besides, I think the regular cabs make it look kinda mean and macho.. Very nice Steve!

squonk 43,965 #25 Posted April 12, 2014 I worked at Chevy from the begining's of Computer Command Control carbs up through the use of Multi-port injection in the trucks. The 90's trucks were awesome with the throttle body system and almost no hoses or wires. I used to hate working on the Ford tuck trade ins. The valve cover that sat under that stupid giant manifold always leaked.
