bmsgaffer 2,043 #1 Posted April 7, 2014 Any one ever tried making a mid-mount plug aerator? I have the design skills but the tools are lacking. I don't want to tow one behind because its just too hard to navigate/adjust and not to mention the consumer ones have a 200lb weight rack limit. I rented a ride-on aerator last year and that thing was great but costly and had to go through the hassle of renting, but now I want to know if we can fab a plug aerator under the tractor and use the hydro with down pressure to use the weight of the tractor to help aerate. Just clip it on the attachmatic system and stand it up in the shed when done! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
JUSS10 250 #2 Posted April 7, 2014 I like the idea. I've thought of it myself before. I think my concern was the diameter of the total unit. Looking at the Agri-Fab aerator, the spikes are 6" long plus they bolt to a hub. That means the unit needs to be at least 12" in diameter. If you went with a 3" spike length that may work.
