Today I was able to pull the carb off, let it soak in carb cleaner bath for a few hours. Put it back together but would only run with choke partially on. Ended up adjusting hte float and all set. I also replaced the fuel pump as the one in it was non functional and only gravity fed. I was also able to get the choke and throttle cables free. I changed the starter generator belt while I was at it. Gave it a really good bath and my son made me start to wet sand the white paint off the hood. I think the po used a primer on the hood but it came off. Under it was the original orangy red paint. The hood color seems a little different than the other sheet metal so I am not sure how this one will end up. Here is a side by sid eof the old and partially finished wet sand with a little wd to make it shine a little.

This also came with one cyclops light mounted to the front grill and i think it will be going back once it is wet sanded.

If you were the "other guy" then you only wanted to buy the tractor and not the plow and dual wheel set up. Was that you? Seller did not want to deal with parting it out. I told him I would pay his asking price and take it but to give the "other guy" first shot at doing the same deal. He called back pretty quickly and offered it to me. Did he call you back?

Not many left around here. Steve and I were just talking about that the other day. 7 or 8 years ago you could pretty much find anything you wanted. There were "D"s all over the place around here. I haven't seen one come up for sale in years. I think we fleeced the majority of them out. RJs, 400, 401, 502, 702 etc. they were all over the place. When the occasional one shows up now look out!

With Steve working from home he's got the time to find em' and go get em'. You better be quick on the email, phone and drive to beat him!   :ychain:  :ychain:  :ychain:

I think this one may have to be restored.... :*****:  While wet sanding down to the original red I found that the po sanded many of the areas of the original color red down to bare metal, then primed with a light grey primer and top coated in red. Many of the areas are now bare metal on the tins and it really does not look the way I wanted it to come out. Several months ago I did this with a 702 I picked up but the difference is that tractor was simply primed over the original red so once the primer was sanded down it exposed the original red and it has the right look I wanted. Those of you who know me know that I really dislike repainting an original tractor like this one but I think I have to. I need to think about this one for a while.

To accumulate some natural patina Steve...

just keep the tins wet, and leave 'em sit out in the weather for awhile.

Interesting idea here too.
