WH nut 553 #1 Posted February 9, 2014 We are getting more snow and my blower tractor is broke (C145). The left arm snapped. And as luck would have it, Kelly doesn't have any pulled and I cant get to my other tractors without the blower
boovuc 1,090 #2 Posted February 9, 2014 Boy that bites and it isn't even remotely a band-aid fix and run. You may have to call in the cavalry and have someone plow out to your other WH weapons.
WH nut 553 #3 Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) Boy that bites and it isn't even remotely a band-aid fix and run. You may have to call in the cavalry and have someone plow out to your other WH weapons. I was hoping it was just cracked and I could use an exhaust clamp as a temp fix. But its like McDonalds chicken. Part missing I have a B80 and a 1075 I can pull parts from but Im not sure they are the same. I have to go dig in the snow and have a look see. MalMac 1,332 #5 Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) I don't know if I have ever seen one break like that. That's just not your everyday run of the mill break. This winter had been rough all the way around. Edited February 9, 2014 by MalMac
312Hydro 474 #6 Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) Bevel the edges, place it on the shaft and tack it together. Take it off, finish weld and then place a reinforcement like a split piece of tubing over each weld and weld that. You don't want them to go all the way around as you want 4 more welds. That will definitely strengthen it. You'll need to grind the first welds flush to fit the tube over them. Just saw that you say a part is missing. Wasn't in the original post while I was typing this. I'm a slow typer. Not sure if you can fab a piece up to replace it depending on what materials you have. WH nut 553 #8 Posted February 9, 2014 I don't know if I have ever seen one break like that. That's just not your everyday run of the mill break. This winter had been rough all the way around. Im sure I was abusing it a little. Was lifting the blower to take off the top half of drifts and cleaning out around the mail box where the plow had piled up the snow. Noticed it wasn't lifting as high but didn't stop to check it until it fell to the ground and wouldn't lift.Thought I had only broken the 1/4 key
Sparky-(Admin) 23,120 #9 Posted February 9, 2014 Yuck! If you do get it welded up its still a chore to get the machine apart to re-install it! Good luck. Mike..............

oldredrider 2,553 #16 Posted February 9, 2014 In the past I have run another bead of weld at the arm joints before installing. Some of the factory welds leave a lot to be desired. It's easier to fix before it breaks.
smoreau 658 #17 Posted February 9, 2014 Blowers are not light and if you push two hard with the blower up a little, the bell crank gets a lot of pressure. I'm sure that's the cause when trying to move back piles that are higher then the blower. The key way is a natural weak spot on the tube of the rock shaft. smoreau 658 #19 Posted February 9, 2014 I have broke axle shaves, tie rods, plow mounts, and even cracked the frame at the transmission working my horses harder then I probably should have. But it's all reparable and your more careful about doing that again as you find the weak spots of your tractor. It happens and sometimes its what you need to do to get a job done. Nothing to be ashamed of, just having a good time with the and fixing it is always a good time even know we don't think that at the time of braking it.
