This is the tool for removing the front tires. Worked perfectly, tires were off literally in a couple of minutes.

Now I just need to do some beadblasting and painting then reassemble the front end.

I will wait a couple of weeks before mounting tires to hopefully lessen paint damage.

Removed one rear tire from the wheel using the cheap tire tool. It worked but would work better if the center rod was longer for these 8.5" wide wheels.

Only did one because I have one extra wheel and the front is only held up by the jack.

I spent some more time today putting on more bits and pieces. Here are some general views.

I want to wait a little longer before mounting the front tires to allow paint to dry some more.

Deck lift rod is also hanging to allow the bellcrank paint to dry.

Looking great, were the plastics in that good of shape or did you use something to restore them?

Fuel tank is from Joes outdoor power, Dash is from a person parting a 520 in Ontario. Fuel tank was simply cleaned and polished with Mothers back to black. Dash had some paint overspray on it I removed with paint stripper then cleaned and applied the Mothers. Hydro fan was just cleaned up with spray nine. Foot rest pads are new. Steering wheel was cleand and Mothers applied.

All control and Tach-a-matic handles and knobs are new. Fuel lines are new.

Thanks, Cleat

Total cost is much more now. I am rattle can painting some at home, some at work. Bead blasting is done at work. My neighbor is going to paint the hoods and fenders when he gets back from vacation with his spray guns.

He painted the hood, sides, and rear fenders on the Ford LGT and also painted the Black Merkur for me.

Thanks, Cleat

This is my little Helper, Bailey my 8 year old daughter and only child.

She held the tires from turning on the wheels so the mounting tool would work.

Installed 5 7/16" x 1-1/2" fine thread grade 8 bolts and flat washers from rear of rear hub to form studs.

Now to mount wheel is just like a car, much easier.

Finally got the floor mat material for 520 number 2 ( back one in the pictures). Cut it out and contact cemented the rubber mats down. These foot rests were made at my plant years ago since the originals rusted out from too much salt.
