AMC RULES 37,195 #1 Posted February 1, 2014 I remember some talk a while back about the best canopy for the big show... can we revisit this topic, is there one type/model that is a better investment that all the others? Anyone have a good source for one to recommend?

rmaynard 16,289 #3 Posted February 1, 2014 Any of the pop-up canopies that you get from eBay are Chinese. They are not meant to last. I had mine for 3 shows, then I left it up one night at home while cleaning out my shed. We have a sudden downpour, the nylon top bellied with the weight of the water and bent the frame beyond repair. I say beyond repair because the manufacturer will not sell me repair parts. So I am going to fork over another $200.00 and buy a new one before the show this year, and hope that I can get another 3 years out of this one. All pop-up canopies come with a warning that they are not to be used in the event of rain or wind.
AMC RULES 37,195 #4 Posted February 1, 2014 (edited) I am really hoping together we can find one of quality made here in the USA instead. This manufacturer looks promising, made in the USA... http://www.caravancanopy.com/about-us/caravan-canopy-made-in-america/ http://www.caravancanopy.com/product-category/recreational-products/ ...and they're on ebay too. Search "caravan canopy" there. Edited February 1, 2014 by AMC RULES
64s 83 #5 Posted February 1, 2014 Wait until spring and if you have an Ocean State Job Lot near you, you can get one for $90-$125.

neil 2,410 #7 Posted February 1, 2014 we bought one of those pop up Chinese canopies for a show that i did last year , it lasted two hours then it was just a pile of bent up tubes after a slight breeze
AMC RULES 37,195 #8 Posted February 1, 2014 Thanks for the review Neil. Does anyone have a good experience with one to share, how are those EZ ups, heavy duty?
squonk 43,710 #9 Posted February 1, 2014 I got one of those Chinese ones and the tubes are quite heavy. Problem was the springs that hold the lock balls are flimsy and broke. Again can't get parts. If there's another person around to help I can stick a bolt and nut in the hole and still use it.
dclarke 4,082 #10 Posted February 1, 2014 Craig, There's a company near me that has been making tents since 1875, they might have something. Search " Armbruster Tent Maker"
AMC RULES 37,195 #11 Posted February 2, 2014 Looks interesting Denny... http://www.armbrustertentmaker.com/tents.html#T1 seems the canopies they offer are made France though.
