from the rear.the 1257 appears to have wider axle shafts and does have wider rear tires.

Not sure but it looks like the 657 has the newer style fender on it, it is wider, I thought they started them in 68 or 69, they make the tires look small, really so with the skinny tires.

you're right,Kelly! i wouldnt have thunk it,most everything had had over there was older then '68 so i never paid it much attention, but i just went out and measured and it is the newer fender pan.each axle shaft is about an inch longer on the 1257,thats the amount the hubs are slid out to the ends of the axles.the 657 hubs sit flush on the end of the axles with almost no gap between axle housing and hub.

I might be wrong one the years they started the wide fenders, but my 857 has the narrow ones, (short frame) and my 1969 workhorse has the wide ones also a short frame.

Kelly,

Your correct it was 1968 for the first year of the wide fenders.

And for those who THINK a NOS round hood is exspencive ... try to find a NOS small rear fender for a 1965 to 1967 Wheel Horse. :banghead: <_<
