AMC RULES 37,196 #2 Posted January 21, 2014 Maybe place a "wanted" add in the classified section for the remaining parts you need. Good luck with your restoration.
rmaynard 16,290 #3 Posted January 21, 2014 I think the pulley might be available from "buckrancher". Good luck on the tear down and rebuild.
wheel horse man 56 #4 Posted January 22, 2014 What's the best way to strait up the hood luvers on a round hood I used pliers hammers punches but just Seam to make it worse any one have any ideas
rmaynard 16,290 #5 Posted January 22, 2014 One of our body shop guys will probably have a better answer for you, but for things like that, I generally use a hammer and small dolly. It takes a lot of time and patience. The biggest problem with louvers is that they are usually pretty well rusted, which makes it harder to straighten. Martin 2,133 #6 Posted January 22, 2014 I'm not familiar with the shape of the louvers, but i would make two dies, one for the outside and one for the inside and press the louvers back into shape in some way. The dies don't have to be anything special, steel pieces welded together or carve the shape out of some hardwood. I would not use pliers at all as you will end up with small creases in the part that will be almost impossible to get out. I made a simple piece of steel to straighten the grill in my 1057 hood, look in my 1057 thread for details, use the 1057 link in my signature to get you there.
