Who says Teckys don't run in the winter!

Here's a short crappy video of my 72 Sno-Pup with the 2 cycle Tecky. Had to prove to the RS world that I have a Tecky. In fact I have 2! :scared-eek:  It's almost impossible to run this thing with one hand. Works great and beats a shovel. :)

Most of the ones I've had wouldn't run in summer either!

Ah yes, I remember the days of hanging a drop light on the 604 carb trying to get the H60 to light.

My Kohlers and Onan run just fine, thank you Craig.  Havent even tried starting the diesel since the weather got cold though.

When I saw this Toro sno-pup I laughed, I think this thing should be in a museum!  :)

When I was in the lawn and garden equipment business, we were a Toro dealer back in '72 and we sold a lot of these pups.  I noticed that this was the wider one that they offered.  We sold more of what I think I remember as being 14" ones, but we sold a few of this size too.

I own the much newer version of these now and I really like it.  Ours has electric start and I'm very glad as it takes quite a few cranks to start it, but it always starts. Mine probably has a very similar engine as yours does. They've come a long ways in their designs and this version really throws the snow!

I have always thought that Toro made the best small snow blowers out there.  They just work, and I believe they are the lightest, so they are perfect for small jobs.

Thanks for this post, it brought back a lot of good memories!

Yep, even those Toro electric Power Shovels you see brand new, little use on C/L for next to nothing($20-$40)...

really throw some snow. Priced a new snow shovel lately?   :scared-eek:

My Sno-Pup looks knarly. Fiber glass is cracked and missing chunks, Handle is held on with hose clamps. Tiny wheels with what little tread worn off. I took it to a friend this past summer who builds cart engines to clean out the carb. He went to the Toro dealer and they couldn't believe somebody had one still running :scared-eek: . They had a box of old 2 cycle Tecky parts and he picked up a diaphram.  The new " Kiddie " blowers are 4 cycle now.

Thanks for your visit to the confessional Mike re owning two Teckies. I have a 19" Flymo hover mower with steel blades that dates back to about 1972 (did you have these in the US?). Powered by a vertical shaft 2 cycle Tecky it still runs and mows some of my lawn starting on the second pull. Only two things destroyed those engines - no oil in the gas or hitting something big with the blades and bending the crank. Must have well over a thousand hours on it.

I must admit, I'm a sucker for old novelty pieces like this but by the video it seems that a shovel would be much faster and easier than draggin the Pup around? :scratchead:I think you know that as well but I know yer havin fun Mike! :)I should talk, just yesterday as I entered my shed to fire up my snow blower I pushed aside the much newer and easier to use Toro 8/24 and fired up the 1964 Snow Bird. She fired on the first pull, (Briggs power eh) Life is good...

It works great with 2 hands. Beats a shovel hands down. Filming a video is hard and only I hand on it. I can clear the walk in 5 min as compared to 20 with a shovel
