Snow Blade Runner Thingy's - D Series

You know those upside down mushroom looking things that keep the snowblade edge on the D series protected from too much wear? Well, mine wore out REALLY quickly. Had to replace them with a home made set up. But I realized the cupped end was designed like that on purpose so that when you change the blade angle, the guide changes with it. Anyone have any good ideas on what to use to make a couple sets so I have them on hand when needed? I know it takes 3/4" bar stock. It's the end piece that contacts the pavement that I'm stuck on. Something that would mimic the original in function, anyway.

 

Also, do you guys leave those things on all the time or just when plowing snow? What about when pushing dirt? Just wondering. I've never seen anything on the use of those things.

I never use mine.....unless I am pushing leaves or something....If I had a gravel driveway then I would. 

If you google snow plow feet most are saucer shaped thick steel.....

I use black iron pipe caps (2" works ok) on my plow blades.  I drill them and use a carriage bolt.  They wear out after a season or 2 but they are cheap.
