Butch 194 #1 Posted January 4, 2014 (edited) Last year I used the chain and it worked great. The plow blade followed the ups and downs of the driveway and curb. The solid bar doesn't follow the surface of the driveway as well. Next year I'll be going back to the chain and staying with it. The blade is plenty heavy. You don't have to worry about it rising up over the snow. I'm talking about the two attachments that lift the plow. The chain version attaches to the mower deck lift bar. wallfish 15,937 #4 Posted January 4, 2014 I use a solid link for down pressure but the lift is manual so it still floats with the contours of the ground. The down pressure works good for scraping off the hard packed snow like tire tracks and using it in the dirt. Adding weight to the blade would accomplish the same thing but harder to lift manually and wear the scraping edge faster. If using a hydro lift and you still want the down pressure without adding weight, you can make a slotted hole in the solid link so it will float with the ground. $.
