stevebo-(Moderator) 8,059 #253 Posted August 4, 2015 Been thinking of adding some wood to the bed on the rails and came out with this. I think it kinda needs something to sort of raise the body line as the cab is so much taller than the bed.
Sparky-(Admin) 19,674 #254 Posted August 4, 2015 The wood sides look great ....but that shiny new rear bumper needs a bit of patina on it. .Mike.......

stevebo-(Moderator) 8,059 #257 Posted August 4, 2015 THE WOOD LOOKS VERY GOOD. HAVE WHEEL HORSE NAME PAINTED ON THEM. RUSS Russ-Funny you say that because I have been seriously considering have a woodworker carve something in the wood.
Ken B 3,116 #258 Posted August 4, 2015 The wood sides look great ....but that shiny new rear bumper needs a bit of patina on it. .Mike....... I got to drive Steve's truck briefly yesterday. All I can say is I REALLY REALLY want one now! It runs and drives like a dream.. The way trucks are supposed to run and drive! I plan to drive it and in it much more in the near future... I told Steve a nice new set of factory original Chevy hub caps would really tie in the sexy new chrome bumpers... I think Steve will be doing lots of be-boppin around in Old Red....

RUSS Russ-Funny you say that because I have been seriously considering have a woodworker carve something in the wood. Great idea on the carving.!I'd vote for getting it done, and then making it look old and dirty.
grnlark 479 #260 Posted August 13, 2015 Love it Steve and I like the wood sides - but what if you recreated the wood sides from some old distressed boards to match the patina of the truck? Either way its awesome

Either way its awesome Matt, the pics only show the bare wood. I cleared it to match the new bed wood.
wrightorchid 261 #262 Posted August 18, 2015 looks fantastic. My dad had a 51 3100, with a 216 in it. Nothing special, but fun. I wish I had some of the cars now we had growing up. We also had 37 ford business coupe and 50 ford woodie, mostly unrestored, or in progress when sold off.
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,059 #263 Posted August 21, 2015 With all this farm truck posts going on I thought I would show some final pics of my truck. Was waiting to install the repop front hood emblem and rear reverse light to call it done. Only other thing I "may" do is to have it clear coated but for sure not this year. Ken and I will be dragging our old vintage boats to the next outboard meet in September behind these.

stevebo-(Moderator) 8,059 #269 Posted March 5, 2016 So today I was able to finally spend some time in the barn changing the leaf springs and all the shackles and pins. They were original and needed to be changed due to wear. I decided to go with a lower spring that lowers the truck 3". I really like the new stance.

neil 2,398 #272 Posted March 6, 2016 Steve, I have loved watching this thread developed over the last couple of years & I am delighted for you at how awesome your Chevy has turned out, here's now looking forward to seeing Some summery pics of the ole girl cruising the highways. Wheelin'theSky 57 #274 Posted March 11, 2016 Sure, I know their truck was a Ford, but whenever I see old red pickups like this, the Sanford and Son theme runs through my head. Ba ba ba badda... Sorry, there are lots of posts so I apologize if there was already a Fred Sanford shoutout.
