The State of Maryland used to use dyno's in their emissions test stations. For obvious reasons, they didn't keep them long. What a waste of taxpayers money. Now they just read the vehicles OBD2. Same guys that were "trained" to run the dyno's now are trained to plug in an OBD2 plug.

Great video. Makes me feel smart.

They did the same thing in il for a few years. They stopped it because it was damaging too many cars. I mean you can believe the government doing it,but not people just pushing it past the limit.

When I was at Napa we had a customer that build a new shop and he put in a chassis Dyno. He kept calling us to send him EGR valves. Every car that went on it needed one according to his computer. It went on for a year. Then he stopped calling us asking for them. 1 day I asked him why he stopped needing them. He said it cost too much for the electricity to run it. Spend thousands on a dyno but you now can't afford the electric? :scratchead: This guy wasted more money than the government.

Dyno is an inherently dangerous place, lots of really boring repeatative work and monitoring time until something goes wrong then it's a major adrenaline rush, hopefully everyone can walk away from, cleaning up after a catastrophic failure is a mess, fires also are messy but a fuel leak incident is real scary, I've seen a 7 x 16 ft 10psi blowout panel shear 5 1/4" aircraft cable tie downs and sail 103 feet across the parking lot,
