leeave96 487 #1 Posted October 22, 2013 So I'm tinkering with some K-series engines and dealing with points, condenser and coils - even engine timing. I gather none of this stuff is needed with the Magnum engines. Question is - is there any need to time a Magnum engine? When I speak of timing - I haven't done it yet, but as I understand, you can use a timing light and adjust the points to set the timing on a K-series engine, based on markings on I believe the 'S' mark on the timing wheel. Just curious. Thanks! Bill
boovuc 1,090 #2 Posted October 22, 2013 On the Magnum engine, everything is controlled by the ignition module. The magnets on the flywheel interact with the module to create an EMF. No engine timing is required.
Fordiesel69 226 #3 Posted October 26, 2013 Flywheel is keyed, and only the air gap can be set on the magnums. The magneto controls the timing.
