Coadster32 793 #1 Posted October 16, 2013 Hey all, Working on a 856 with a snowthrower, (pics to come soon) I recall seeing a thread a few years back on lift assist ideas, as the thrower has a bit of weight to it. Some guys added springs, and some mounted up small electric winches. Just looking for ideas, pics, and possibly the old thread link.
CasualObserver 3,411 #2 Posted October 16, 2013 You need a lift flag with the extra tab for the spring attach point. There's a good pic in this thread.
Ed Kennell 42,065 #3 Posted October 16, 2013 Here is a pic of two spring lift assists I made from old garage door springs. I found two of the springs nearly balance the blower weight. I anchor the springs to the mid Tach-a-matic and tension the springs with a small come-a-long under the tractor that is anchored to the rear hitch.

Coadster32 793 #6 Posted October 18, 2013 I swear...this place is like one stop shopping and think tank all in one!! Thanks for all the links, and places to get stuff. I'm hoping to get back under the tractor this weekend and spy things out a bit better. This certainly puts me looking at the right direction. (I was looking initially looking at the front of the tractor) . I'll keep you posted, and get pics as well.
persof 14 #7 Posted October 19, 2013 I was at Tractor Supply today and It appears to be the same as a WH lift assist spring except that is is a bit larger in diameter. Thanks Francis
