Fordiesel69 233 #1 Posted October 8, 2013 Question for you folks. I have rebuilt quite a few kohler K series, and a bunch of 2 strokes over the years. What I have noticed is that whether I do the honeing or if I let a machine shop do it after boring, the cross hatch seems to go away very fast after running the engine. So it would be safe to assume that after a year of use my tractor would have virtually no cross hatch left whatsoever. So why is my cross hatch pattern going smooth when I take all the precautions? New air filters, new oil at 5 hrs, then 15, then 25...... but the factory cross hatch seems to stay? I recently decarboned an M12 (534 hrs) and an M14 (255 hrs) and there was a ton of cross hatch.
