Thanks! Ive actually got a bunch of old motorcycle mufflers in all shapes/sizes/materials laying around so the thought crossed my mind to use one of them! Thats a nice looking ride you got there, what model is it ?

As you may have guessed by my log on name, it is a 953.

good luck and keep us informed as you go along.

Oh, and I stumbled upon an ad with a snowblower and a cultivator or how you say it, fair price to be found in Sweden in that condition and its only 20mins away from home, i might just pick them up aswell, then ive gone from 0 to 1 wheel horse, 1 mowerdeck, 1 plow, 1 blower and 1 cultivator in less then 2 weeks haha!

From looking at the pics it looks like the solenoid isnt hooked up to your battery. Im not sure what the wire that looks like a phone cord is for but that isnt factory. I would wait till you can look at the electrical schematic and get it figured out. With the PO work I would guess that the safety switches are not hooked up.

Could you post the model number and serial number off the tractor's ID plate?

The info we have is the 71128a spec number was used in 1976 and in 1977 on the 71-16KS01 model.

A 2nd 1977 model 71-16KS02 used a 71223a spec number.

Kohler made your engine in 1976 which would be correct for an early 1977 tractor model because they usually came out in October of the preceding model year.

Where about on the tractor do I find the id-nr Garry? Haha, well, I took my first ride on it today, all I can say is that the engine runs great but the steering needs ALOT of grease!! Oh, and im still thinking about how to deal with the muffler issue, if I go with a stack, how am I supposed to open the hood without removing the muffler all the time?

Checked my pics, this is what I could see, ill clean of the plate tomorrow and have a closer look!

Model nr: 71-16KX (cant really see the last nrs, could be an 8)

Serial nr: 147433

You found them. I think I can see 71-16KS

7=1977

1=Garden tractor as opposed to lawn tractor

16=engine horse power

K=Kohler engine

S=Sundstrand hydro

The last 2 missing digits were the parts list identifier

Parts lists are here

https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/index.cfm?xCaller=Toro

Use 71-16KS01 for a model number. Next page open the Assembly Drawings. After a parts page opens you can click on a small printer icon at the top left of the illustration and the page will reload to one that prints well. Keep in mind these lists are shared by other models but often fail to tell us what model uses what.

Other manuals that may be of interest that are in the Red Square library

Just added your tractor to the serial number list I keep and there is another 71-16KS with serial 151424 in Sweden. Your serial is 147433. Belongs to a gentleman that goes by jimmy.landin

There is likely a lot more of them without the last 2 digits on your side of the pond.

Looks to me like you are missing a wire on the solenoid Battery should go to one big post starter should go to the other. little wire should go to the start terminal on key. with the battery in and hooked up try jumping across the solenoid, from one big side terminal to the other that takes that out of the system. If it starts then it is either a bad connection or a bad solenoid.

Picked up the snowblade and cutter deck today, the guy asked me as I was about to leave if I needed some wheel weights aswell to go with the snowblade, I thought those suckers were impossible to find in Sweden, so before he finished the question i said yes! Got my package with a new filter and carb rebuild stuff today aswell, sadly i was too busy to take any pics but ill take some tomorrow ;)

So, I havent been able to work on the tractor much, the lack of snow has had me doing other stuff around the house.. Until today, its been snowing for two days now and that got me working, assembled the snowblade and manufactured some missing parts, and I drove to my dads place and he manufactured a muffler setup for me, ive been out plowing for an hour now and man that was fun!! Theres one issue though, when I start up it wont go anywhere until its been running for about a minute or so, ideas?

I live in the southern part, just outside Kristianstad in Skåne! Ah, ok Tim, I was just about to read up on the manual, theres a few adjustments I need to make on the rig, the lifting lever is not working properly, its a pain in the ass when you need to manually lift the plow when you back up etc..

Tim

below is a cut and past from the owners manual for automatic transmissions

During cold weather, start the engine with the

parking brake engaged; on C-Series models also

lift up the transmission clutch lever. Run the

engine at full throttle for two minutes to allow

engine to warm-up and then engage the transmission

clutch by pushing the lever down. For

temperatures between 0 and 30F (- 18C and

-2 C) allow the transmission to run in neutral

for 5 minutes before attempting to set the unit

into motion. For temperatures below (-18 °C)

allow the transmission to run in neutral for 10

minutes before attempting to set the unit in

motion . Failure to do so may result in extensive

internal transmission damage.

      Does anyone know where I could find a complete engine rebuild kit from for the k-19 ? I absolutely love my c-195 and have had it for years. But the motor let go last fall and I want to rebuild it or upgrade the motor, any suggestions?

      Hello all. I am looking for suggestions on adapting the pto from my C series tractor to a harbor freight predator 420 13hp engine. I know the predator motors are a controversial topic however it is the route I have chosen for this particular machine. The intent was to mostly use it for plowing so no PTO required but it would be handy to have. Looking to hear from someone that has successfully done the swap that may offer any advice before I attempt to transfer it over. Just looking for any general pointers that will help me along the way to make it go as smoothly as possible.

      1979 c-101 nice project tractor just needs a few odds and ends, steering wheel, coil, carburetor bowl, the wiring was redone by previous owner....all 4 tires are good and hold air it goes into all gears no problem, transmission fluid has been changed, 10hp Kohler, message me or call or txt with any questions, it does run and runs well,  it’s been kept inside since I’ve had it, I would also trade for a mid mount grader blade thanks
