Kohler sound 14 vs 16

My Kohler K321 and K341 engines don't sound like each other, but have the same stock exhausts.

 

Is this normal?

 

The K341 16hp just sounds so much better.

 

Can a K321 14hp sound better, is something wrong?

I definitely know what you're saying RC. I just scored a C-160 and it sounds much different than the 12 HP Automatic. The big block definitely has a different sound

My 160 with a 20" stack has the Harley Davidson sound.    pu ta tuh    Zz  pu ta tuh    pu ta tuh

Don't notice much sound difference usin' my 12, 14 or 16 hp Kohlers.

 

A huge sound difference when I take the '90 520-8 Onan for a spin! BIG sound difference.

 

I was skeptical pickin' up an Onan but, had to have the 520-8. How come? 'Cause I did!

Should I be apprehensive owning an Onan?

 

Now that's sound! Purrs like a Harley and never misses a beat regardless of what I'm doing; mowin' or dozin'.

Onan definitely has a sound of it's own. I like to think when I drag out the 520H with the Onan (and chrome hub caps), the neighbors assume I've got a day job and ain't on welfare. Sorta like driving a BMW in a low rent neighborhood...

However, when when I use the 314-8, with the 14hp kohler magnum, there's no doubt someone is mowing because that sucker is LOUD!!! :)
