Disaster of the worst kind... Fire! (Pics of a not so nice type)

Been a bit quiet this week, I had a dark cloud over me during my time at the wheel horse meet...

Almost 10 years ago I started with this

And built this workshop - and play area for the kids

Been a good place for my stuff for the last 8 years, however midnight last Friday I got a call from the missus who was hysterical...

This was the only shot of the fire, before all the electrics went and my family were evacuated. Two fire tenders from the nearest towns were there for almost two hours.

:(

So a sleepless night for us all, my son sent these pictures Saturday morning.

Fortunately none of my horses were in there at the time, but a lot of workshop equipment was completely destroyed along with two husky chainsaws, a cement mixer, leaf blower, strimmer, compressor... The list goes on.

There was a lot of wheel horse parts and tyres, the heat was so immense that everything aluminium was destroyed.

My ladders are now only any use for an Oompa Loompa

Two rd decks are now mangled and spindle less!

My poor 79' Dixon looks like this :(

Some of the tools and spares

Amazingly the main doors padlock came out unscathed :/

Very sorry for your fire and loss of items, BUT, no one was injured (at least you didn't say there were injuries).

The items lost can be replaced, but a loved one can not.

I was a volunteer fire fighter for 31 years, and I have seen this many times first hand.

No idea, it wasn't electrical and certainly started where all my tyres (tires) were looking at the damage. A lot of oil and petrol mixed in didn't help things.

Near miss in my outside garage......lightning hit the underground fence for the dogs, or came close enough, and fried an outlet, electrical adapter, and fence controller.  Blew parts 20 feet straight across to a shelf on the opposite wall.  Luckily I didn't wake up to what you suffered.  So sorry for the loss of property.

I've been lucky also. House was hit about 15 yrs ago. Ground to cloud. Blew a hole in the side of the house. Wife was like 10 feet from the exit point when it hit. We smelled wood burning. Only lost TV satellite  receiver, overhead door board and phone router. I have a metal roof on my house. Neighbor is a retired engineer for a gas line co. specilized in lightning supression. told me why my house was hit, how it was hit and that it will be someday hit again! :jaw::sad:

Ouch mate.. It looks even worse than the phone pic's you showed me Saturday!!

At least it was only "things" and not people that were damaged.

Any idea how it started?

This is such bad news Mark .

I know you looked pretty down at the show and it spoiled your weekend .

Hopefully your insurance will cover all what you lost and more & that you end up with a better workshop .

Good luck

Shame you wearnt a bit nearer as i would have popped over and put you up a brick shed
