MaineDad 87 #1 Posted August 20, 2008 It's supposed to get in the 40's tonight up here in Maine. Dang leaves are turning color on some trees already. Wife thinks I should fire up the wood stove It's August 19th!
kpinnc 14,569 #2 Posted August 20, 2008 Is kinda strange... 60's at night here, highs only get to about 90. Last year, as with most other months of August here, we see highs around 105+... Makes me a bit concerned about what kind of winter we have to look forward to. Kevin

T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,599 #8 Posted August 20, 2008 It's been unusually cool here (and I'm not complaining) with high's only in the mid to upper 80's. I think usually when we have a mild summer here in the midwest, more than likely it means a mild winter (that's what I'm hoping for anyways). B)
jerrell 1 #9 Posted August 20, 2008 B) Hey treed, i hope you are right, but i remember this type of summer in 1983, (the reason i remember , my dad (105 years old) passed away, feb 16th and we had 14" of snow, took me 6 hours to travel 150 miles, he always told me to watch the animals if they start to fur-up early "look out", usually in arkansas we are expierencing tripel digits temp now, and it has been hovering in the upper 80 and lower 90's. i think we will have a colder winter ,,,,,,, hey any way i bet i'm one of the few arkansans that has a genuine snow plow,,, may get to use it..
KyBlue 655 #10 Posted August 21, 2008 Mid 80s here ... hasnt been in the 90s but a f ew days this year, I dont recall any 100+ days this year. Global warming my left .... eh Foot! I beleive the next global warming confrence should be held...in a tent...on the plains of Alberta Canada in JANUARY!! They will all be out there burning styrofoam in a trash barrel to speed up or start the process!!! I wonder about the winter we are fixing to have too.. No Wood Stove here, only a gas furnace...I shudder to think of the bills!!
