specialk7492 1 #1 Posted July 12, 2013 I was mowing with my 655 horse and decided to sharpen the blades. So I took them off and sharpen them. Once I was done I put them back on and started it up and the blades started knocking together. What would cause this? This sounds like a stupid question. daveoman1966 3,611 #2 Posted July 13, 2013 The blade spindles on the mower deck run by gears in opposite directions and they must be offset by 90 degrees. You apparently twisted one of the spindle gears out of sync. You will have to re-set the gear sync such that the blades are 90 degree opposed. That is, if one blade is N/S oriented, the other must be E/W or they will bang together forever or to the point of disintegration.
