1982 C-195 60" mowing deck, need parts/help/info

Dana Bennett

 Hi everyone,

Ok, first post here! If you didn't see my introduction post My name is Dana Bennett and I live in Forestville, NY.

I have a 1982 C-195 that I bought about 11 years ago and have used it a LOT to try and upkeep my 4 acre lot around my 1860 farm house. I've had many problems over the years and fixed them the best we could.

My current issue is the 60" mower deck. A few years ago I already had the center pulley and hub replaced as well as the tensioner pulley twice (incorrect V pulley was installed when it should have been a flat one). I use to have the bigger repairs done at a local and VERY good shop (Montes) but with money becoming more tight over recent years we (my older brother Al lives with me) try to do the repairs ourselves.

Right now I need to replace the center hub again, replace the tensioner pulley again and the tensioner arm can lift right off its shaft if I pull on it. About 2 years ago while trying to help out one of my neighbors by cutting their overgrown yard I hit something, this loosened the center blade and caused the blade to wear INTO the shaft. Brother Al shimmed the blade (brought the blade level with a good section of shaft) and retightened. Came loose again this year and now the groove of course is worse. Brother Al again reshimmed and tighted it again, it is working for now but we really should replace the hub/shaft because I'm sure it will continue to get worse, and who wants a blade shooting off a running mower?? yeah, NOT me!!! LOL!!

Ok, first off, can I only get USED parts to repair this deck?? any suggestions on where to buy them??

Has anyone fitted one of these older decks with modern NEW easy to get parts??

We depend greatly on this mower and very much need to keep it working properly. It's old but I could never affords to replace it with anything comparable. all the parts/repair manuals came with it when I bought it, those have helped a LOT!!!!

Thanks for any and all help with this issue!!!

            Dana,

Parts are no longer available for them (spindles). I found a fellow member who had a few nos shafts for it that I bought for good money. If I were you I would take Baerpath up on his offer. I have seen a few of those decks and they are nice for sure.

C - Series, Hood and Sheet Metal (square black insert) (also known as black hood models) for sale!

This sheet metal set, including C Series Hood, Dash piece, Seat Bracket, and Left & Right-Side Covers, and Left & Right Floorboards was sandblasted, epoxy primed, and painted the OEM Wheel Horse Red Paint.

The painted set is not perfect, a little metal pitting on one of the floorboards, a few little imperfections in the paint here and there as I'm a rookie painter, but this is a nice painted set of sheet metal to freshen up your C Series Wheel Horse!

Does anyone know where I could find a complete engine rebuild kit from for the k-19 ? I absolutely love my c-195 and have had it for years. But the motor let go last fall and I want to rebuild it or upgrade the motor, any suggestions?

Hello all. I am looking for suggestions on adapting the pto from my C series tractor to a harbor freight predator 420 13hp engine. I know the predator motors are a controversial topic however it is the route I have chosen for this particular machine. The intent was to mostly use it for plowing so no PTO required but it would be handy to have. Looking to hear from someone that has successfully done the swap that may offer any advice before I attempt to transfer it over. Just looking for any general pointers that will help me along the way to make it go as smoothly as possible.
