520H - Deck Lift Cylinder

Recommended Posts

Brian K WheelHorse

I've been hunting around, but haven't found a thread for this. I have a 1998 48" deck on my 1997 520H. There seems to be no real adjustment for the deck angle (I did read something similar to this in another thread - but it didn't answer my questions). I had the same deck on my 314-8 and it had the manual knob adjustment. The deck seems to cut A LOT better when I bump the hydraulic lift a little bit which reduces the angle, and lifts the front a little. Problem is - it doesn't stay there as my cylinder seems to drift quite a bit. Here are the questions:

1. Any mechanical fix for this?

2. I haven't torn it apart yet to get a good look at the cylinder - is it rebuild-able (seals/o-rings)?

3. If the cylinder is the unrepairable type - has anyone found a decent/affordable replacement?

Thanks. This is only my second summer with the 520 - but I really like it minus a few "hiccups". ;-)

WH nut

There is a threaded rod at the back of the deck thats ued to level front to back. You should be tipped slightly forward about 1/8 of an inch
