Older 310-8 bypass wiring?

I just pickex up a 310-8. Can I remove the old harness, and make a newer, more basic one without safeties? Like running the start wire to the solenoid, ignition to solenoid, the yellow to the positive side of coil, etc?

You can, but I recommend you wire up the safety switches. At least the seat switch in case you fall off ( and dont say it wont happen) lol

Like WH nut says, it is done but not recommened for a worker. I know the pullers have just basic wiring to get it started. But I dont think they even charge.

I don't want to think about ot, but the factory wiring and switches are mangled beyond repair.

I WOULD KEEP TWO. THE CLUTCH PEDAL AND PTO. IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN AROUND YOU MAY WANT TO KEEP THEM ALL.

I know what your up against. The 310 I picked up a couple months ago was all molested. I got it running but I only have the clutch safety working right now. It will be a dedicated snow plow tractor so I dont care about the PTO switch and plan on fixing the seat switch.Working on the tranny now though. Do you have the wiring diagram? I have it, furnished by a member here.

This is going to be a dedicated snow/dirt plow tractor too. Unless I find/make a grading blade for the back too. It was a freebie. I know bypassing it isn't the right way, but its the easiest/low dollar. And its going to live a hard life

After searching many posts about this problem, I still don't know the answer to my problem.  I saved a  Maroon hood 310-8(no model # decal)from the scrap guy and it had been abused big time...but the Kohler is like new (maybe the PO installed it and didn't know anything about wiring.)

 

All the wiring was removed and in a bucket....I have a wiring diagram and everything looks straight forward...EXCEPT this item: RELAY connections.

It show 3 wires connected to the relay....two blue wires that go to the engine oil switch...one purple wire that goes to the solenoid.

 

I need to know the correct way to connect the wires to the relay ..the relay has 3 terminals coded......H-B-S

 

Can I assume the purple wire is connected to the "S" spade?   (yea, I know about assume)....thanks in advance for your comments.  :text-thankyouyellow:

Can't find anything on the 106833 relay other than it has been replaced by 99-5365.

 

This service bulletin indicates some used a 116397 relay

 

and found this shot of the 116397 relay

 

Is there a diagram on the relay cover?

 

Adding - pop the cover off and identify the terminals that way.
