My 701 is Finished

Recommended Posts

rmaynard

Just five days before I have to load the horses onto the trailer for the trip to the big show, I can finally say that I am finished (for now). I got all the decals on and took a test drive to the end of the driveway and back. So, just a recap. Here it is when I brought it home back in September.

Just a couple of minor touch-ups and tweeks and she's ready to go.

Outstanding job, Bob. All your hard work paid off.  I'm sure that will attract plenty of attention at the show.

Being parked next to Brian's Delorian editions, I won't know if it's mine or his that is getting all the attention...

Actually I do know. Brian's horses are always show stoppers, and I am proud to even be parked near them.

First, it was cleaned in Berryman's carburetor cleaner. Then I put it in my ultrasonic cleaner to get anything that the Berryman's missed. After it was thoroughly dried, it worked the surface with a 6" "fine" wire wheel on my bench grinder.

That's it.

Don't know what the future holds for this one. It has a good deck that I am going to clean up and paint as well. Might use it for what it was intended, or just keep it covered in the shed and take it to shows.

That's what we call a 'Proper Job' over here. Superior work Bob. If it was mine, I think I would have to at least sit on it each day while it was 'laid up' waiting for the next show, but would be itching to ride, or use it daily.

Well done.

Thanks for all the nice comments. It's nice to be finished without the pressure of figuring out how to do something, or where to get something, or having some parts left over wondering where they go.

My biggest decision at this point is do I leave the AG's on, or should I put the Silvertowns on? What do you think?

:text-yeahthat: The STs will look better IMO and they blend with the edge pattern on the fronts....... Always seem to look right on WHs of that era.

I've always been partial to the "Town & Country's" myself. :)  I have AG's on my 704 but mostly because I have tri-ribs on the front because the OE front tires were rotted. The T&C's I have aren't bad but I got a set of new Tru Powers to go with the ribs.
