Butch 194 #1 Posted June 7, 2013 Can you buy the piece that holds those silver levers closed? It has the piece that goes through the lever and held there with a clevis pin. I can find drawings of the hitch and the pieces but nut the part numbers. I've been using a small machine screw with two nuts. Thanks.
Wishin4a416 2,191 #2 Posted June 7, 2013 (edited) Are you talking about the rear hitch for snowplow or tiller? You should be able to get at tractor supply or maybe a hardware store. Mcmaster Carr for sure but shipping would hurt on 2 small items. doc724 925 #4 Posted June 8, 2013 When I bought my first plow in 1981, there were no pins (as shown by Jack in the pervious post) with the rear tach a matic. Just tighten the bolts a bit more so there is resistance when you move the levers. Make sure you have the washer BETWEEN the levers and the mounting bracket

I have two and have never had the pins. Just tighten them up good.
Butch 194 #6 Posted June 8, 2013 I just use a cotter key better and cheaper Would that be what I call a cotter pin and you bend one of the ends so it doesn't come out?

I have two and have never had the pins. Just tighten them up good. I take mine on and off often enough I just wish I could pull a pin. The way I do it now is a wrench and screwdriver. Pulling a pin would be faster and I would just leave the pins in.

IthacaJeff 151 #10 Posted June 8, 2013 I just use a piece of vinyl covered aluminium wire. Insert a 2" long piece and bend it around so it won't come out. Jeff
Tankman 3,523 #11 Posted June 9, 2013 I usually use nada, zip, nothing. The levers, snug, stay in place. Use locking nuts to avoid the bolts from workin' loose. I have used a large 1/8" Ø hair pin cotter pins in the past; easy on, easy off. 1/4" Ø clevis pins are also available at Home "Cheapo" or Lowes, off the shelf, inexpensive. http://www.zorotools.com/s/?q=.125+hairpin&1.x=8&1.y=
