Fordiesel69 267 #1 Posted June 6, 2013 On the nicer nelson mufflers that are getting hard to get, is it worth painting it with thtat flat black grill paint every now and then? Will the paint stay on for very long with the high temps? I once painted a lawnmower muffler with a wood stove paint and by the end of the year it was burned off. SousaKerry 502 #2 Posted June 6, 2013 Actually the modern high temp spray paints are a lot better then they used to be. I paint all of mine either silver or flat black with Duplicolor VHT high temp paint and they will last several seasons. But I usually sand blast them first
KATO 115 #3 Posted June 6, 2013 If you look at the muffler on the motor in my avatar it was painted with flat black BBQ paint a year and a half ago and it still looks good !! :handgestures-thumbupright:

Anglo Traction 761 #6 Posted June 6, 2013 BBQ paint is good, this is better. That makes me Craig. So do they make NON Flame proof VHT Paint as well?.
Tankman 3,520 #7 Posted June 6, 2013 I use the VHT that Craig uses, does last a season or two. Rattle can, easy to apply, I usually tarp off the muffler while still on the engine and touch up the muffler (paint). Guess I have five minutes now 'n then. I still spit shine my boots, maybe only once a month but, looks good. Guess I have five minutes now 'n then. I have to admit, shamefully, I don't check tire air pressure too often.

Jake Kuhn 1,579 #9 Posted June 6, 2013 I use the rustoleum high temp 2000 paint. I paint most every tracot of mines muffler, I like the look of it. As long as you cure the paint it will last a long time
