Part of me says don;t touch it, but I will regret it when the engine quite some day and it can;t be pushed.  Busted a stanley open end, and bent a snap on.  Any ideas how to break this loose without breaking it?

Back up top.

The release valve is just a 3/8" stud you turn counterclockwise.  Does anyone have any ideas how to break this loose?

Try pb blaster for about a week. If you can find a nine point socket it will fit on the sqaure head. Also when you try to turn it lightly tap on the case next to the plug. Again i mean lightly.

If you can find a nine point socket...

Heat on the side of the case worked for me on three of them. I put a little anti-sieze on the threads. I open the valve 2-3 times a year.
