Buzz 502 #1 Posted June 2, 2013 The first Wheel Horse Show I attended was the third one and I've been to every one since. This year there is a 50/50 chance I won't be coming. A couple of weeks ago I developed Bell's Palsy, a condition that paralyzed the right side of my face. My right eye droops closed, the right side of my mouth droops, but worst of all, I can't blink my right eye. I have to continously put drops and ointment in it to keep the cornea from drying out and being damaged. Eating and drinking is a challenge and a sight to behold. I also tire very easily so driving is out. There has been some improvement and hopefully there will be more in the next couple of weeks. See the doctor again Wed. Now some good news. John Fisher usually follows me to the show in his motor home. He said he'd come by, put one of my tractors on the trailer, and drive me to the show. I could either stay in his motor home or with Jerry in his. They both usually have electric so they'll have A/C and a place to take a nap if I tire too much. Now all I have to do is convince the doctor and Mrs. Buzz AKA "She who must be obeyed". Wish me luck. Buzz, applying for a part time job as a gargoyle... varosd 1,185 #7 Posted June 2, 2013 Did you get put on a steroid and/or anti-viral medicine? one cause of Bell's Palsy can be Lyme disease. see what your Primary provider says. Karl and you can be the Wonder Twins (just kidding)!

Buzz 502 #9 Posted June 2, 2013 Did you get put on a steroid and/or anti-viral medicine? one cause of Bell's Palsy can be Lyme disease. see what your Primary provider says. Karl and you can be the Wonder Twins (just kidding)! I was on steroids and antibiotics the first 10 days. Test for Lymes disease was negative. Gave me some facial exercises to do plus rub my face with an upward motion. I will beat this damn thing.

Stigian 1,234 #11 Posted June 2, 2013 Buzz, applying for a part time job as a gargoyle... This made me laugh!! Good to see you have a sense of humor about it Buzz.. Take it from someone who has suffered with Dystonia (no, it's not that country next to Russia ) for the past twelve years, that keeping your sense of humor and seeing the funny side of everything will keep you going. I do get a bit fed up with my condition at times, but I never let it get me down.

varosd 1,185 #13 Posted June 3, 2013 Lyme titer can be initially negative until antibodies are produced and then lab will detect them. A lot of ticks are brought in but most are not the Deer tick type.

specialwheelhorse 174 #16 Posted June 3, 2013 BUZZ : The show would not be the same if you aren't there. Your going to be finer than frog hair, so buck up and GO !! Our teen grandson had Bells a few years back and he's fine now. I know very well what it's like not being able to go for reasons I'll not go into now. Health 75 years old and hundreds of miles might have something to do with it tho !! WE will be with you in spirit, whatever and in prayer as well. I'll bring the 854 to ride on, that's the only one I've started this spring. See you all next week.
