papaglide 542 #1 Posted May 27, 2013 The drive belt in my GT14 shredded apart last night. I did some research and came up with part number 8334 which according to the wheel horse belt listing site is a belt 85" long by .625 width. Not wanting to wait and by oem from my local dealer who is closed today,I went to my local TSC and got a huskee kevlar belt 85" by .625. Well it seems that this belt is a few inches too long! Could someone please verify the proper belt that would fit my GT?
squonk 43,894 #2 Posted May 27, 2013 Mike where did you come up with 8334? That belt does indeed cross to a 5L850W Napa which is the 5/8" x85" huskee belt I can't seem to find a Wheel horse belt application listing. Make sure the belt you got was packaged right. lots of people buy a bunch of belts not knowing what they need and return them in the wrong belt sheaves. Hodge71 665 #3 Posted May 27, 2013 Its possible TSC measures the outside diameter of the belt and Wheel Horse uses the inside diameter. I have never had any luck with the Huskee belts fromTSC. From my 401 to my 416, they've never held up or been correct
squonk 43,894 #4 Posted May 27, 2013 I usually get 3 years plus out of Huskees. I would measure that new belt and make sure it's 85" Also make sure it's routed right.
papaglide 542 #5 Posted May 27, 2013 I think I got the part number from the toro site under one of the years of GT14's. there was just a list of parts in a column along the left side of the page and 8334 was the only v belt. This is the site where I cross referenced the 8334 into 85x.625. http://outdoorpowerinfo.com/belts/wheel_horse_belts.asp
squonk 43,894 #6 Posted May 27, 2013 Mike, do you have the serial no. off your tractor?
papaglide 542 #7 Posted May 27, 2013 Model. 1-7411 Serial. 564250
squonk 43,894 #8 Posted May 27, 2013 (edited) I found the chart and see that no.s 7473 which is 82'long and 7478 which is 84" long are listed for some 69 tractors. I bet that 82 incher would work.1-7411 is the same model I had. I didn't ever need a belt for it though. Edited May 27, 2013 by squonk
papaglide 542 #9 Posted May 27, 2013 That makes sense Mike, thanks. This 85 had so much slack in it that even with the parking brake off I could pull the belt off of the engine pulley! Have to get an 82" tomorrow.

gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,509 #14 Posted May 28, 2013 The 8334 belt is {Bx84.8"} 5/8"x84.8" Sure you don't have the flat idler pulley under the belt? The pulley should be over the belt so the wide back of the belt runs on the flat of the idler pulley. Garry
papaglide 542 #15 Posted May 28, 2013 I had the pulley over the belt. One other thing, the "towing valve" which according to my manual should be on the left top of the pump isn't there. I am not quite sure what is up with this tractor, or better yet how much it has been messed with. The hyd lines in the manual look like they come out the top of the pump yet on mine they are coming out of the left side of the pump. Sorry for the bad pics. Lawn Ranger kid 14 #16 Posted May 28, 2013 i had the same problem with mine and i bought an oem that was the length you said! i ended up getting a belt a few inches shorter. sorry i cant remember right of what length it was?
papaglide 542 #17 Posted May 29, 2013 Well I picked up an 83" from my local dealer on a "try it, if it works, stop by sometime and pay for it" deal. Gotta love that! I got home and put it on and it works. I am not quite sure if its as snug as its supposed to be, but it seems normal.
