You must REALLY like Corvairs. I wouldn't have even hauled that thing away for scrap value!

Looks like a "Turbo-Air" 110! I kept a small ball peen hammer under the seat of my 67. The left side carb flooded around corners and I would have to get out and beat on it some! :banana-wrench::tools-wrench::tools-hammer:

My wife's first car was a 61 Corvair with a stick shift. She had a habit of over-revving the engine when she shifted causing the belt to pop off. She kept a long screwdriver and pair of work gloves under the seat so she  could depress the idler pulley and put the belt back on. It was a daily occurence. I guess it was easier to put the belt on daily than to learn to shift properly......  :confusion-confused:

I spent what seemed like a "lifetime" in a corvair once.  My Buddy had a new monza his senior year in high school. We figured because it was our last fling before college, we would drive it to New Orleans and party a bit. We got all ready to go-checked everything, 8 hours out we lost the fan belt (everything belt), middle of the night just across the Indiana line. Slept  in the car til a nice old gent took us to a mom and pop gas station that had a belt that would fit. 14 hours later we crossed the causeway across Lake Pontchartrain. You see, it was 1963 and we had a bit of trouble getting thru a town called Birmingham Alabama. Naturally, experienced travelers that we were, we hit town at midnight. The only thing that got us thru, was that we were both big guys and mean enough to "hunt Bear with a switch". We had a good time in the French Quarter, drank a "Hurricane". Saw Al Hirt play his horn. I don't remember to much of that nite! After we recovered-we turned the little pancake six toward home-22 hours later we got there. I haven't taken a ride in a Corvair since!-Thanks-Al

The tractor sure is a big help pulling and flipping the car around.

I know they were viewed by many as junk in their day, but nowadays one in good condition is cool nostalgic car!

Did you cut it in half or did it just self destruct when you tried to pull it out?? :ychain:  :ychain:
