14 auto deck questions

Recommended Posts

Hodge71

I'm looking at purchasing a 1973 14 auto and was wondering if someone here could answer some questions. The tractor is in great shape as you can see in the picturebut the deck and mid tach-a-matic have me scratching my head. The deck height adjustment or "quadrant" as Wheel Horse calls it looks nothing like my Dads 12 auto deck, and if you look closely at the mid tach-a-matic, it has a big handle on it. Again, nothing like my dads 12 auto. My dads looks exactly like my 416, just a different color because its a Toro. So is this tach-a-matic and deck  just a different model or option??

You have me lost Jordon. I have the same exact tractor except its a 12 auto. What do you mean its the old style mid with the belt ran Through the mule? My 73 12 auto has the same mule drive on it as this 14 auto. Are you saying that this is a pre 1972 deck on a 73 tractor?

Oh boy. I wonder where I can get a post 73 deck 48 inch deck and mid tach-a-matic thats a s nice as this one is. Might have to do some hornswaggling and find someone that will trade. Having a pre 73 mid hitch isnt going to work with the 73 cultivator set I plan on putting on this tractor

Can you post more pics?  I'm not sure you have a problem, but need a bit more look-see detail.

Its not that theres really a problem. I know the deck runs well and is sound. It was just completely different than the deck on my 12 auto which I knew was from '73. Jordon was nice enough to help me figure out that its a pre 1973 deck or "old style" tach a matic set-up. I was just hoping to get  the new style deck for it so that its correct

C - Series, Hood and Sheet Metal (square black insert) (also known as black hood models) for sale!

This sheet metal set, including C Series Hood, Dash piece, Seat Bracket, and Left & Right-Side Covers, and Left & Right Floorboards was sandblasted, epoxy primed, and painted the OEM Wheel Horse Red Paint.

The painted set is not perfect, a little metal pitting on one of the floorboards, a few little imperfections in the paint here and there as I'm a rookie painter, but this is a nice painted set of sheet metal to freshen up your C Series Wheel Horse!

Does anyone know where I could find a complete engine rebuild kit from for the k-19 ? I absolutely love my c-195 and have had it for years. But the motor let go last fall and I want to rebuild it or upgrade the motor, any suggestions?

Hello all. I am looking for suggestions on adapting the pto from my C series tractor to a harbor freight predator 420 13hp engine. I know the predator motors are a controversial topic however it is the route I have chosen for this particular machine. The intent was to mostly use it for plowing so no PTO required but it would be handy to have. Looking to hear from someone that has successfully done the swap that may offer any advice before I attempt to transfer it over. Just looking for any general pointers that will help me along the way to make it go as smoothly as possible.
