42" RD Deck Restore

Hi Kevin,

 

I'm Ray from England and was really impressed with your Deck restoration.  I am restoring a 36" rear discharge deck and would appreciate your advice on the following points:

• How did you clean your dismantled parts, i.e did you get them sandblasted or wire brushed oir did you apply the POR15 directly to the 'stable' rust?
• What did you do to clean and treat the cast blade holders and blades?
• The spring tensioner on mine is painted red whereas yours is silver, how did you clean and treat this?
• Did you paint the blades themselves?
• How did you treat and paint the belt pulleys?
• and finally my deck has two quarter circle projections, one of which has almost completely eroded anbd will need replacing.  After its vbeen welded how can i treat the inside of each projection.
