pweber 0 #1 Posted April 2, 2013 Hi, new to the forum here so I hope I'm posting in the right department. I just bought a smoking 418 C today and want to take it to a small engine repair shop asap. Does anyone know who has a good reputation in the Hagerstown MD area or surrounding area? I know that question is a long shot, but I'm hoping someone can put me on the right track. Also, is deck removal a knuckle-buster? I have to remove it to get it in my trailer to bring it home.

pweber 0 #4 Posted April 3, 2013 The one I'm buying is the commercial 418 C rather than the A, but yes it was $250. It smokes while in use but not so much during idle. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's not a total rebuild, but we'll see.
pweber 0 #6 Posted April 4, 2013 I'll get some pics up as soon as I can. It's still in my trailer at the moment and probably will be all weekend. I'm having a devil of a time finding a parts/operators manual. I knew it was going to be a tough one since they only made it one year - 1987.
