I got to ride in a 2013 Tesla Model S today.

I was walking through the parking lot of my local Advance Auto Parts store today and I heard someone yelling at me. I looked around and didn't recognize any cars or people that I knew, but a few seconds later, this beautiful silver car pulls silently up beside me. Driving it was a friend of mine whom I had not seen in over a year.

Seems that last year his wife died. He took out a reverse mortgage on his house, cashed in the late wife's insurance policy, and sat around moping and feeling sorry for himself. Well this guy always had the latest and greatest tech toys, but none of them were making him feel better, so last Friday, he took delivery of his brand new 2013 Tesla Model S electric car.

For only a cool $94,000.00 dollars, he says he's feeling pretty happy.

So I got in, buckled up and we hit the road. He stepped on the accelerator and OH MY GOODNESS. My body sunk deep into the back of the seat as this thing went silently from 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds.

The dashboard is all digital as you would expect, and in the middle is a touchscreen computer that has everything you could imagine.

Anyway, when I have more time, he has promised to let me take if for a test drive. I don't think that I would want to own one, but it was a fun morning.

My camera phone was not behaving, so I only got a picture of the inside, and this does not do the car justice. The other picture is a stock photo that I pulled from the net, but that is what the car looks like.

WOW   power, looks and silent  I heard a electric motorcycle story on NPR last Summer and its amazing what is out there.  $94K but compare to other "super" cars in Road and track etc, might be a "bargain".  once all the technology trickles down to us humble folks, we will someday drive these cars..maybe with the sound of a 1969 Z-28 302 engine piped in!

Just a beautiful sound! The engine always sounded like a tin can full of rocks! Just loved that solid lifter motor! :handgestures-thumbupright: :handgestures-thumbupright:

Those cars are beautiful. I would love one if I thought I could spend the money  (he says, stepping into his 16 year old Maxima....)

Very nice, Bob, glad you had a fun ride.

But for $94 grand, will it tow your trailer full of Wheel Horses to the show?

Actually, now that I think of it, a better question might be ... Can you arrange your test drive so we can all have a ride? :handgestures-thumbup:

Beautiful car! I have yet to see one on the road around here, but they look pretty sweet and reasonably priced for what you actually get.
