David_V 1 #1 Posted March 29, 2013 I have a C81. The mushroom muffler rotted out. I stuck a straight through muffler on it. The motor has a 1 inch NPT pipe coming out and I used a reducer to get the 1/2 NPT inlet of the muffler on that pipe. Is that going to cause any problems? Should I look for the correct muffler or just one with a 1 inch NPT inlet?
pfrederi 17,164 #2 Posted March 29, 2013 Restricting Exhaust flow is not a good idea. Mufflers are reasonably priced vs having to replace burned exhaust valves or damage valve seats.
SousaKerry 500 #3 Posted March 29, 2013 Do not reduce your exhaust size, nasty things will happen to your engine not to mention the lack of performance cause it can't breathe.
