does anybody have any idea what year this deck might be.

i can't find a serial number on it.

it a 48 inch side discharge.

i know it's a pre attach a matic so that would be before 1973 correct?.

I think that style was used for the Charger/Raider era machines so maybe a 1968-1972 ?

That is a "tach-a-matic" just the earlier version (1966 - 1973?). 48" may mean its towards the later part of the early era. Or, perhaps for a GT model.

sounds right, I would put it as being with the larger engine tractors of that generation.

I have a 71 Raider 10 and the same deck. Doesn't go up all the way and lock. It hits the rear tires. I think something is missing but not sure.Any one have good pictures of one on the tractor and how it attaches? I have noticed there are a lot of decks for these and I would like to use it. Also have a rear discharge for it and it does the same thing.I think i have figured out what I need for that one though. Any help would be appreciated.

That style of deck did tend to ride back more than the newer style when they are lifted up. When I adapted one to work with the front mule drive pto/belt setup I noticed that that the belt could be adjusted properly with the deck dropped to mowing height but it got guitar string tight when I raised it. The original side belt setup wasn't affected by it. When I was done mowing I would loosen the belt to relieve it. It shouldn't hit the rear tires though. Oversize tires?

This is a 48" SD from a 1965 1054A that was from original owner stating the tractor was original. So yours is definitely later than 1965.

But can easily see the heritage of the later models like you have, with WH adding improvements as time went along. One thing on this deck that was NOT good was the anti scalp "sliders?" - a piece of 1/2" round stock - on a turn they would plow up some dirt, so I added casters. This deck would also 'kick' to the back a little bit in lift mode and tighten the belt more, but had no problem with tire clearance (and those are some large tires!)

I have a 71 Raider 10 that came with that same deck. I can't figure out why it does not lift the back up when you lift the deck up. Is missing something off the back but I don't know what. Does any one have a good picture of the rear of these.
