Anyone use Skype for across the pond video calls?

Recommended Posts

Morning all, I'm working on an idea for a kinda unique video involving two people with .................................................................................. time..    Trying not to give the game away here. :silence::D

I'm not sure if my idea will work (working on it) but one thing it will need is reliable (and free) communication across the pond..

I know Skype to Skype calls are free (well apart from using up internet bandwidth), but how good/reliable is it over large distances?

Is there a better alternative to Skype?

Ta muchly in advance :handgestures-thumbup:

Morning Stigian, yes skype works well across the pond. I video call a fellow in Norway and one in Australia. You can video call with one other person for free. If you need more than that it will cost you. There is another one called oovoo that is free for up to ten people I think. I've only used it once but it seemed to work ok too. Good luck with your project.

When my son was in Italy last summer, we talked numerous times and in our experience, it worked great!  For the record, I'm "Chesbaycruiser" on there too!

Morning all, thanks for all the cool replies..

I gave Skype a whirl yesterday and had quite a long video chat with Stevasaurus. Great chatting with you Steve :handgestures-thumbup:

It worked very well until 5pm when my nice kind internet provider flick a switch and slow the internet down, at which point the both video and audio got a little jumpy..   Nowt to do with Skype, just my internet after 5!

I've had a look about the net at ooVoo, and so far I've not found a bad word against it... So I will have to give it a whirl as well..
