IronDuke 4 #1 Posted February 13, 2013 Hey, i was thinking of making a V plow that would open and close, but not with hydraulics, could someone help me out with getting around the not using hydraulics idea. I do not mind having to manually open and close the plow but an idea to have it stay open would be greatly appreciated Thanks, Duke
wallfish 16,204 #2 Posted February 13, 2013 I guess you could build it as if you were going to use hydraulics but replace the cylinders with solid links. Or use hand adjustable links like two pieces of pipe which one slides inside the other and locks in position with a bolt. Drill a hole in the outer pipe, weld on a nut over the hole and use the bolt to pinch and lock the position of the inner pipe. This way you could upgrade to hydraulic cylinders or actuators down the road if you prefer.
IronDuke 4 #3 Posted February 13, 2013 yes i totally agree, my first idea was to use the adjustable idea where one would slide into the other, then use a pin to lock it into place. thanks for the advice Duke
Tankman 3,515 #4 Posted February 14, 2013 I saw one of these on a - wouldn't even guess at the $$$. Linear actuators from Northern Tools are fairly inexpensive. http://ventrac.com/products/attachments/KV552/video
