Today was a fairly nice day (cold but nice) so I decided to continue to work on the trailer. The door ended up being heavy so I installed two garage door springs from the door to the trailer door frame. Sorry the pics are not showing it down but the pic shows the inside. I also removed the old fenders and gave it a real good pressure washing. It is now ready for the diamond plate stone guard I ordered last week. The stone guard will go around the entire bottom 2 feet of the trailer.

Just a quick update on the trailer mods ..

I got the sheetmetal installed today. I needed to take a break from the edge trim as I was kinda messing that up. The new fenders came today (just sitting on the tires for now). The diamond plate around the bottom 2 feet is due here tomorrow. Hopefully I can get to it this weekend.

Steve are they the fenders from NJ?

Jim-

i spoke with that guy but the rounded fenders he had were not a diamond plate design so I passed on those. The jeep style he had were but they were too long and I did not want that look. He is was a good guy and I think he was the owner of Dolphin Boat Trailers out of NJ.

Here is another update. The gravel guard is installed pretty much. I still have to do the entry door bottom portion. You can see that most of the diamond plate still has the light blue wrapper on it. I have a pic showing one section with it off. I have enough to do the bottom of the back door and hopefully enough to wrap the back corners and under the back door as well. We will see...

Great job on that trailer for sure, better than new! Are you sure the trailer needs to be painted? Other than the black trim it looks pretty good!

Some of the fasteners are rusted and show some staining along with a few small dents on the front. I would like to fill those before painting. The rear metal is a slightly different shade of white too. I will be coating the roof with a white coating or a light gray. Not sure but I am leaning towards the white. What are your thoughts on the dull aluminum on the side edges? Coat it white or buff it out to a high shine?

I had some time today after work to get a few more things done on the trailer. I mounted the front box, caulked the top of the diamond plate, pulled the plastic, took the side door off and painted up the hardware and around the door. I hope to get a few tractors in it tomorrow and figure out the travel on the tires so I can mount the fenders as low and tight as possible. I bought a new break away set up that I plan on mounting in the tounge box (thanks Jeff) for the idea. Starting to look like I want it to now!

Got more time today to hang the fenders. I hope they are not too low. I loaded up the economy tractor for some more weight. I am not sue of the amount of travel on this type of axle? I also got the new electric brake "emergency" set up installed. I just need to connect one more wire and then route the wires proper. I installed the battery set up in the box up front.
