You got to slow down! At that pace you'll have that ramp done by tomorrow afternoon!

Today was a really nice day here in CT. I woke up and decided to start on the rear lift gate door fabrication. Wow my back hurts now... Just got back from home depot for the 3/4 inch plywood to sit inside the frame. I used 1/4 x1 x1 inch angle iron for the frame and supports.

Lookin' good.

You might need some helper springs to lift it back up when you're done. Maybe some garage door lift springs inside of a piece of pipe with a pulley to guide a wire cable ?????

I think it will be heavy for sure just not sure how heavy. May need to add something like that John.

Maybe they make large gas springs that would work too. Letting it down could be an issue too since it's not just a metal gate you can let slam down to the ground like lanscape trailers.

Are you leaving the doors on too?

No the doors are coming off. I will install the 3/4 plywood then 1/4 wood over that to cover the entire "inside" of the door. The outside of the door will get covered with .040 or .032 aluminum. I will then trim it out in and out with a C style metal edge. Once that is done I will be installing 2 door closer/hardware on each side. Then the entire trailer will be painted and the bottom 2 feet will have diamond plate stone guard. I will then install new diamond plate fenders. I will then call it DONE !!

Here is another update on the door fabrication. Wood installed and inside painted. I am having the sheet metal fabricated and perimeter edge molding.

Looks like you had a little fire there while welding on the hinges!

No fire while welding. You are looking at lots of grinding "debris" ...

Very nice work.

Are you planning on closing the doors while you sleep in there? Do you have other ventilation for it?

Just thinking that you will need good ventilation with the possibility of fuel smells in there.

Also, can the door be unlocked from inside the trailer? I hate to see "one of your friends" lock you inside your own trailer!

My mind runs in strange ways, but I am really trying to look out for you health & well being!

I'm only guessing but I bet the door stays down when camping at the Big Show. It has always been so friggin hot there. I will say, I haven't been bit nor have I seen a single mosquito in the times I've been there. A roof vent might be a good idea, once the fart games start at night it might get a little outta hand in there!

Lol Ken....

I thought about the door thing. I plan on making a latch inside to lock and close door from inside. I then plan on putting  lock on the outside so it cannot be locked from outside. In terms of vents I plan on installing a small window and a few small side vents. I do not plan on running any sort of heater while sleeping in the trailer.

I think you should put a window shaker to cool it off at night, and a flat screen.
