DONT FORGET THE ROOFS

Recommended Posts

Sparky

For all of us who got dumped on by this snow storm dont forget your shed roofs! I lost my steel cheapie shed a couple winters ago from neglecting to clear the snow off it.

Cleared off my 12x20 dome style tarp shed tonight and it was loaded with heavy snow.

My neighbor's got a massive dome style tarp shed (maybe 18x32?) and it collapsed over night from the snow load.

Good advice, not only for your shed, but for the roof on your house as well.

Be careful....don't fall off of your roof.....course, with all that snow it may be a softer landing! :ROTF:

Good Morning All,

well Im the neighbor with the collapsed shed... I think it was 12 feet wide, 12 feet tall and roughly 30 feet long. I had pushed some snow off of it during the first night of the storm. This was not a cheapie and held up against every other snow storm including th big ones form 3 seaons ago. Well I got up yesterday and looked over all my "cheap Harbor Freight" sheds and everything was OK.... look over at the expensive giant one and it looks like Godzilla stepped on it.... yah Im cranked but what am I gonna do except tear it down and hope that my boat and stuff is OK.

Like Mike says.... get some weight off your sheds if you can.... the weather man is saying theres alot of rain coming in the next few days and rain on top of 30" of snow equals alot of weight.

Heres a pic.... life sucks but what am I gonna do. Turns out the HUGE green house at the local landscaping/garden center fell down too---looks like the backbone gave up as the front and back panels where pulled in towards the center. I didnt think this snow was anywhere near as heavy as the snow from the bad winter of 2010 but what do I know.

Holy Battered Boat Shed Batman. That's a shame. If you're lucky, insurance will pay to rebuild a new one.
