New to me 416-8. Needs some TLC but should be fun for the boy to run once the 1000 little problems get fixed.post-8782-0-93955400-1359992234.jpg

:WRS: "neighbor".

Is the Prime Sirloin Buffet still down there?

Your tractor looks pretty good from here. :handgestures-thumbup:

You know we're going to want more pictures of that blade, right?

It is still there. A good friend of mine is the new owner. The blade was a fabri. by the previous owner. Stainless steel. He had quite a few hrs. making jigs to build it. I guess $ also.

I will put pics on when I figure out how to do so. I was able to put this on because it was the online pic for the ad when I bought it. Tried to put pics of my 314-8 on yesterday for hrs

to no avail. I decided to quit trying and have a few beers and run the gas out of the tank. Sounds like a tank to....muffler all rusted out.

Nice ride, I have a 414-8, those 8 speeds are sweet. That plow looks huge! Plenty of parts still available for that one.

Thank goodness......I need plenty. Any advice on a cheap muffler alternative would be appreciated. And thanks for the comments. I figured my son could make

a few dollars with the plow and 36rd deck I have extra. Then I don't have to cringe when he gets on my 314-8.

if you havent run out the gas, my 2 cents is to drop the tank or at least drain it from the tank if it's been sitting for a long time. fresh gas, new fuel lines, fuel filter, oil change can go a long way.

Nice looking 416-8!! :text-welcomeconfetti: :D

Gent I bought if from had put in new battery, fuel filter and oil change. The rear oil was thick and milky. I drained and flushed with kero. 2 wks ago when I got it. checked yesterday and looked bad again. May wait until spring to do it correctly. The gas was what I added when I bought it. It was ok. When the kohler is running, should it feel like a fan is blowing across the top of the motor????

When the Kohler is running, should it feel like a fan is blowing across the top of the motor????

My 414-8 Kohler Magnum and my 416-8 Kohler when running, both feel like a fan is blowing over the motor through the cooling fins. Feels good knowing the engine is being cooled. :-)

I think you've got a keeper there! 16hp, Kohler Magnum (read cast iron engine with electronic ignition vs points/condenser) and tough 8 pinion/ 1-1/8 inch axles. You also got the final Wheelhorse sheet metal, but with Wheelhorse red, vs Toro/Wheelhorse decals and Toro red - not that the Toro logo makes anyone's (including mine) tractors inferior in any way, I just like the bright red and big Wheelhorse hood decals on that series tractors.

Good luck,

Bill

Nice machine. I saw that advertised. But forget where. Looks like there is plenty to work with.

Punxy. Honestly lots of little stuff...mule drive, fashion a muffler, belt, springs, some sanding and paint, lots of missing nuts and bolts. HEY...the seat only has one tiny rip!!!!!!!!!! headlights work, no tail lights though. Little idiot lights on the dash are missing red lenses and they don,t seem to work anyways. I should screw some stuff up along the way but that's the only way I learn...that and pestering people on forums!

You have got a keeper. The 416-8 with the big Kohler single is one tough hard pulling little tractor. You have a good pair now to keep for many years. I do recommend pulling the fuel tank and giving it a good cleaning at the car wash. Also replace the fuel lines and install a fresh filter. Remove the carb, scrub the fuel bowl till it shines, pull the two adjustment screws along with the float and needle. Give all that a good cleaning with spray brake cleaner. Now your fuel system is clean, and you can concentrate on the other stuff like paint and nuts and bolts and transmission oil. If you keep up with the 416 threads, you will notice alot of RS members want one of these tractors. There is good reason for that. Congragulations on your new purchase.
