K341 Compression

Recommended Posts

Been reading 60psi compression on my k341 while trying to turn it over with the starter. Is the ACR causing the low compression results or something else?

It would be the ACR.

You'll either have to spin it fast enough to overcome the ACR or turn the engine over backwards to check compression.

Does 60psi with the acr active sound like a low number?

I can't honestly say. I have never checked any when turning them over with the starter motor.

The preferred method to check for internal issues on these engines is a leakdown tester.

Do you have a second tractor and a long V belt? You can hook them up PTO pulley to PTO pulley by twisting the belt into a "figure 8".

The "power" engine only has to run at idle speed to overcome the ACR on the "test" engine.

Yeah I have a couple of other tractors that I could use. That's a great idea.

However, the reason why I was suspecting low compression was because it was always difficult to start the motor since I rebuilt it. But it turns out the spark plug is just faulty and wasn't consistently firing. I replaced the plug today with an older one and now the motor starts right up even when the motor is cold.
