I'm usually not at loss for words-but they are coming hard right now-he was a friend, mentor, my Coach at Illinois-PETE ELLIOTT has passed away. He was a great Coach and a good man-I will miss you Coach-RIP.

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend and Coach, Al. he had a very storied career and was a much loved figure in College and Pro Football. I am sure he will live on in the memories of all who knew him.

Al, I think I can say that anyone associated with college and pro football is morning the loss of Coach Elliott. After reading the above, I understand how you must feel. I remember watching that Illinois Rose Bowl and pulling for Illinois.(I was in 8th grade). He was definitely a very special person. My condolences to you Al and everyone that knew him.
