Ken B 3,189 #1 Posted January 1, 2013 Back in the day I had a way cool custom van, I loved it! I have been searching for a conversion van for some time now so me and my 10 yr son Cole can do a little camping with. I have owned larger campers and pops ups in the past but I'd rather take my fishing boat along with me camping than tow a camper. I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a van as its a fourth car in the driveway for me and I won't use it every day. Everything I have been looking at has been either whooped, rusted, busted, or an engine that I want nothing to do with! I looked at a 2002 Dodge Conversion van that the owner described as having some very light rust but very nice. Well, after after driving an hr. and 20 to go look at it I discover the front part of the frame is dust! Not too mention dusty rockers. I guess he forgot too mention that, and I know he knew about it. My heart was set on a Chevy anyway, that is what I spent 10 yrs at the local Chevy dealer working on. This van is an 89, she needs a little cleaning but she is pretty sound, recent rebuilt tranny to boot! I'll spend this spring going over it and cleaning everything up on it. This one was almost two hrs away, she ran great on the ride home. Hopefully I'll bring it to the big show in June.

CRE1992 135 #3 Posted January 2, 2013 (edited) Im sure you will have it 100% in no time. I am surprised it made it up those 2 hills right before your house! You need 4wd for those! lol. Pretty sure I was gonna need 4wd to get up it but my trucks locker made it without spinning lol. Good luck with it! And Im glad you finally found something. Sparky-(Admin) 23,106 #4 Posted January 2, 2013 Nice looking ride! Any inside pics? All seats or is it set up with a bed or kitchenette. I bet it'll tow a trailer just fine to. Mike........
Ken B 3,189 #5 Posted January 2, 2013 It does have a folding bed. I might do something custom inside, not sure what yet., I'm going to search the web for some idea's.
roscoemi 245 #6 Posted January 2, 2013 Looks alot like the '96 I bought from my dad. It was brown with a standard roof, and a 350. That thing was like driving a recliner down the road with lots of space, comfort and towing power. Camped with it a few times and it worked out well. Made a maple and cherry center counsol for his tv which he kept when he sold it to me and still has it. :angry-cussingwhite:
Iggy68 28 #7 Posted January 2, 2013 Wow! That thing looks really good for an 89. My buddy's Dad had one when we were in high school. I never could figure out why he wouldn't let us take it on Friday nights until I had three daughters.
