snow plow extensions?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone added removable extensions to a snow blade? Something with a slight angle to it to keep the snow from coming around the sides.

I've not seen anything like that, not even on big machines. Wouldn't the build up of snow be to much?

There was someone here a few years ago who did this, but the search feature here is not finding it or I'm not typing it in right. It would have been on the old R/S sight.

You mean like the truck mounted plows have that fold in hydraulically?

I have thought about it but never tried it.

These were a pin on/bolt on combo like the original wings were made for residential snow plows.

Maybe if you had a snowblower without a auger. :dunno:

That blackhood looks pretty nice.

The problem those sides would have is when you want to tilt the blade left or right to move the snow out of the way. The snow would be stuck up against the blade and it would tend to trap more snow.

That's what I was looking for. Thanks.

I see your point about angling the blade. What I really need is to make the plow wider. Go from 42" up to 50"or 60". And thanks for the compliment on the tractor. I still plan on getting some black on the hood but working the tractor has got in the way.

Some interesting things on that build, Pat. Wish I'd seen it earlier.
