JUSS10 250 #1 Posted December 29, 2012 So a few weeks back I picked up this old craftsman air compressor at a local auction. I knew it ran and for $15 I just couldn't pass it up. Everything on it worked it was just filthy and had been painted a few times in its life. Looked like a fun clean up and restore project. I did a little research online to try and find some info. There are some photos but none of them were the same so I just decided to paint it the way I thought it would have looked. Below is a before picture and then a few I took after I put it all back together yesterday From the bost of my knowledge I would say its from the 50s and from what I could tell it was part of a paint spraying kit. It has a single stage pump and then an expansion chamber with a release valve that pops at 50 PSI. pretty cool little compressor. I have a bottom feed touch up gun that I may give this a try with. wallfish 18,019 #3 Posted December 29, 2012 Very NICE Do you think it originally had a belt guard?
JUSS10 250 #4 Posted December 29, 2012 None of the photos I have seen have a belt guard. Nor are there any mysterious holes where one may have mounted. May be a good idea to fab one up.... Ha
Sparky-(Admin) 23,097 #5 Posted December 29, 2012 Very NICE Do you think it originally had a belt guard? I doubt it.....back then folks were smart enough to keep their fingers out of the way. Unlike today where there are warning signs for everything in this lawsuit-happy world. Mike.........

Gene_S 93 #7 Posted December 29, 2012 Very, very neat! On American restoration they re-done a Michelin Man air compressor and yours looks just as good if not better!

JUSS10 250 #13 Posted December 30, 2012 You're probably right about the age Kelly. There were two models, this and an earlier one. The other looked like a bullet train.
