What are these?

Does anyone know what these might be? I believe they are both ceramic, the black looks like it was glazed and fired in a kiln. These were found in the ground of a dirt floor garage. thanks

They might be ceramic heat cores for some sort of space heaters, The unit heats them up and they transfer heat to the room. That's my S.W.A.G. :)
